They retreated the “weird” attack and “we’re not going back” slogan, even as people kept using the former online and chanting the latter at rallies.

I do not think they will pass a constitutional amendment, so if Trump runs this will end up in court. I would like to see SC struggling to handle Obamas and Trumps case together.
Usually they just ignore the courts and do what they want, but in this case it would be difficult to actually hold a nationwide election, even a sham one, because it would require enough of the states to cooperate and put him on the ballot. The only way he stays in is if he just refuses to leave or if the SCROTUS says that Trump is President for life because reasons.
