“Anyone who doesn’t laugh is stupid.”

Bro your joke just didn’t land/wasn’t good. Don’t make this more embarrassing than it needs to be.

You can’t win em all. But, yes, I realize that. I didn’t put a ton of thought into it. In general, that’s fine. But right now, when our trans and non-binary friends and family are under siege and lives are at risk, I will try to be more thoughtful. I reserve the right to make jokes that land poorly and ill-timed sarcasm, but I’ll try to do it less often on topics that relate to people that have increasing fear for their lives and well being.

If you keep thinking you’re hearing “dog whistles” everywhere, even among allies, you’re going to slowly go bonkers.

You know what, your right, I didn’t get it at first. I was wrong and retract my comment. Sorry.

I still think it was in bad taste, particularly at a time when we are rapidly heading into what seems like is going to be a very dark time.

Edit: To add I suspect this is a function of this being on the internet and not being able to see your delivery. It’s so close to actual right wing talking points that without additional context it was easy to misinterpret the premise.

I agree, my apologies. I was just finding the post ugly and absurd, and I was flippant with my sarcasm, so I commented while I was walking without much thought.

But I agree with you. These are times to be clear and direct about being an ally. It’s reasonable and justified to be suspicious when the stakes are high and the world seems dark.

Read it with a sarcastic tilt, because race obviously is biological, so saying race isnt biological is farcical. It was just a joke that didn’t so much not land, as flew directly into the ground, mostly I feel because the internet doesn’t allow us to hear tone of voice during delivery.

What? Race is a social construct that has very little to do with biology. If that’s the joke, it shows lack of education at best.

I agree that race has primarily been used as a divisive social construct, largely to distract labour from the only war that counts, the class war. However, there are important medical difference that can occur. Off the top of my head for example I belive that black and white people have different responses and outcomes to certain heart disease treatments. Not acknowledging those difference and accounting for them has lead to worse outcomes for black people.

It is in fact the farcical nature of using race as a division that lends the humor to a dark sarcastic take on this.
