  • Makes me wonder why they didn’t make the ship strong enough that it was capable of sustaining 9.9.

They did; it’s called USS Voyager. Its maximum sustained speed was warp 9.975.

It’s not super obvious on-screen, but the Intrepid-class was considerably faster than even the Sovereign-class (Enterprise-E), let alone the older Galaxy-class (Enterprise-D).

  • 67 YO in this world? Lol. Give capitalism another decade unfettered and male life expectancy will be in the 60s, guaranteed.

-life expectancy is already plummeting in the US vs. other countries

Despite our ridiculously unhealthy typical lifestyle, I’m pretty sure most of that decrease is still coming off the front-end (worsening infant mortality rates), not the back-end (adults not living as far into old age).

Okay, so in Frosty The Snowman (1969) the answer is inconclusive – the hat is either always on his head or out of his possession entirely.

But in Frosty’s Winter Wonderland (1976), the kids make him a snow-wife and she comes alive through ‘the power of love’ when he hands her a bouquet of flowers he made out of snow. A short while later, he gets attacked and his hat gets blown off, but instead of getting the hat back his snow-wife makes a flower for him, sticks it in his buttonhole, and brings him back to life with ‘the power of love’ too. So, yeah: two sentient snowpeople, both hatless.

    spoiler

(At least briefly: he almost immediately gets the hat back anyway.)

Also: they ask the parson to officiate their wedding. He’s too racist against snow-people to be willing to do it himself, but, inexplicably, he’s happy to help make a snow-parson to officiate instead. They bring that one to life by giving him a Bible. So at that point the whole thing’s off the rails and who knows what the Hell the rules are. Frankly, I’m not sure that sequel should count.

  • Yes, I’ve painted bicycles a few times. The first one, a '90s rigid MTB I was building up to be my “daily driver” utility bike, I took the frame to be professionally powder coated, which obviously worked great. The second one, a tandem, I spray-painted myself, which also worked fine but I haven’t really ridden it so can’t speak to the durability over time. Most recently, I tried spraying a frame with plasti-dip because I wanted it to be removable, but it turned out a little too removable: it didn’t hold up to being clamped in my work stand, so now I’ve got to re-do that tube.
