  • I think there’s also a component of if you have earned enough money to be a billionaire you have to have been doing some level of exploitation since a billion is such an unfathomably big number. You’re either like Bezos where you exploit your workers to make big profits or you’re like Musk where you exploit the government for subsidies and contracts.

  • It’s supposed to also help the average person by letting repair shops actually be able to repair older devices so you don’t end up being forced to buy a new device because the company says it will cost more to repair it then to just buy a new one as a way to force you to pay more to buy something new.

  • This reminds me of the people you see in stores who are trying to sell you on a phone plan. I have mint mobile and pay like $15 a month for my plan which has more than enough data. They asked how much I currently pay and I told them it and they just immediately gave up and were like yeah we can’t match that.

  • My problem with it is the whole purpose of what the device does based on the post is stupid. It just puts a notification on the screen as a way to try and use social pressure to get people to stop vaping. But that doesn’t work cause no one really cares if you vape or not. Some people might even think it’s cool or might turn it into a game of trying to vape without setting it off to impress their other friends who vape. I graduated highschool in 2019 and people definitely vaped and the only people they really cared about hiding it from were the teachers, no other students cared at all. So because of all of that this kind of device is just a waste of money that could be better spent on educating kids on how vaping is bad, just like what we did for cigarettes that worked so well.

  • I think in that case it makes sense to knock but in most cases if I see a single use bathrooms with the little occupied in red or vacant in green lock indicator on it I’m just gonna assume it’s free if it’s not locked and open it. I haven’t been burned by that yet because in most situations people will lock them when using them.

  • Yeah I’m sure repeatedly saying that Trump is gonna be worse over and over is gonna win over the Palestinian-Americans who’s families are still in the region and will continue to be at risk for being killed if nothing is done. And with everyone saying this election will be close leaving those votes on the table and just expecting them to follow along cause at least the Democrats won’t directly get involved seems like a bad strategy.

At the time people knew it would be a bad move for Russia to invade not because of whether it would militarily go well but because of the sanctions that would follow and hurt the Russian economy. Also when I said people in Ukraine said that I meant government officials. I didn’t go more into that as I don’t fully remember the context but I remember before the invasion there were news interviews with Ukrainian officials saying that Russia wouldn’t invade and that the US shouldn’t stoke tensions in the region.

With all of that in mind I think it’s fair to think that Russia wasn’t actually gonna invade because it would be really stupid for them to do so and the people in the region were saying it wouldn’t happen. I don’t think that analysis is delusional, the conclusion ended up being wrong but the reasoning behind it was solid at the time. Of course with hind sight you can see more signs and reasons as to why it ended up happening but with the info that was available at the time it made sense as to why invading would be a bad idea. Which was proven right by how badly the war has been going both economically and militarily for Russia.

That wasn’t a delusional take at the time. The reason he thought that was because he thought it would be a stupid move and bad for Russia to invade Ukraine, which turned out to be right with how much it has hurt Russia. Plus I remember at the time even people in Ukraine didn’t think it was gonna happen and that it was just America saber rattling. But even so after he was proven wrong he took responsibility and was open about the fact that he was wrong.

What delusional takes has Hasan had? Also swapping out Biden definitely wasn’t a risk, no one really wanted him, they just didn’t want Trump. Which was shown by the big bump Kamala got after Biden dropped out, that bump matches actually a lot with one of the things Hasan talks about. The fact that a faceless democratic politician is much more popular than Biden in polls. Biden was actively hurting the Democrats chances both on the national level and down the ballot. It wasn’t a risk to get rid of him, it was obvious that he was hurting Democrats chances overall.

We had them too but at least for me in elementary school I didn’t really care what time it was. I remember I knew what position on the clock meant school was done but other then that didn’t really need to read it cause the teachers would just bring us as a class to whatever our next class was for that day. By the time I got old enough to start caring smartphones were prevalent enough that I never really needed to learn how to read a clock. It wasn’t until highschool where teachers got more strict about enforcing no phones out in class that I then learned how to read clocks so I could know when class would be done.

The problem is unless you really use the skill a lot you’re not really gonna learn it from school. I had to teach myself how to read analog clocks in highschool cause even though I’m pretty sure I learned it in elementary school I grew up with computers and eventually smart phones so I never had to use it.

Edit: Also for context I was born in 2001

Most of the shopping I’ve been helping people with lately has been for laptops. And while there are slightly more AMD options then before laptops are still dominated by Intel for the most part. Especially if you’re trying to help someone pick something while on a tighter budget.
