    Counter point.

The medication worked. Suddenly i could pay attention and my grades went up. And those where the main “problems” adults perceived.

My parents where skeptical about medicine first but opted to try because the backlash people gave me for lacking an attention span was affecting me hard. They ultimately believed they where doing the right thing.

I slowly become less social then i already was, lost my appetite, stopped feeling many emotions in general and eventually sank into a deep twisted depression.

I was unable to understand it was the medicine doing this. I was unable to communicate any of it properly because i thought what i was (not) feeling was just normal life and puberty. It was not.

I know and respect that those drugs can help some people. But they completely destroyed me, afterwards it took many years of controversially self medicating with cannabis to restore my original self and feel my emotions properly again. (The mail reason I started was because i read it could be used for adhd/autism and my first experience left me feeling normal and able to take public transport without suffering intens social anxiety)

I fully agree on your diagnosis part though. And i al also not saying medicine cant be the correct tool but its definitely not a clearcut choice.

  • On the contrary, given the premise its a smart observation from an unknownledged person.

“Wifi is waves in the air” is very very wrong but as it appears it’s what this person was thought to believe. Given that they trust this information the conclusion makes perfect sense.

The only “dumb” here is whoever explain wifi like this to them.

So what the post really amounts to is. “I applied actual reasoning to the information i was provided as fact and my conclusion seemed strange, so i will ask on no stupid questions to figure out whats really going on”

More intelligent than the majority of internet users.

  • Story time…

It was the paperwork for me. The last year in school i actually voted against going to a fieldtrip, apparently it was a rhetorical vote, people where very confused i was so demotivated.

I love learning new things but i am very self motivated and have no control over concentration, so out in the field with all those impulses i will be learning in an explorative way but not perse the things my school tried to focus on. Especially hard for me was the dreaded bundle. The papers we where all given and would be graded on later.

I was always to distracted learning on my own i always missed the key information. I had tried many strategies but the last one earlier that year “organized group effort with duos responsible for different sections of the bundle” was shot down mid trip by our head teacher who was the same teacher did the rhetorical vote if we wanted to see go somewhere or stay at school.

So yeah the joy was pretty much beaten out of me by repeated low grades and by that same head teacher “detention to find the answers online for the past trip or i would have basically no grade.” which i knew in advance was impossible, i had tried to do exactly that before we had gone.

  • I would like to see lemmy experiment with alternative ratios.

Sometimes i would like to see is ranked by “scrolled by/liked” ratio but it might be tricky to get a reliable counter.

More feasible may be a votes/subscribers ratio which would be higher if majority of a smaller space liked it but also could give exponential score if non subscribers start upvoting.
