I always love when a fly gets stuck in the car before a cross country road trip. Drive for hours and hours, maybe it doesn’t escape when you get gas, and finally it exits the vehicle multiple states later. Does it blow the fly’s mind? Or is it like “welp I guess I’m in Texas now”? Do the local flies judge his funny accent?

The lenses of your eyes already perceive the whole world upside down, your brain just flips it. If you wear glasses that invert it after a few days your brain will stop the flipping (and then if you take them off it’ll take a few days to re-flip).

1985 here. All but the first one. But my coping mechanisms are way healthier now than a decade or two ago so progress!

I don’t think they are coming back for those of us who wore them originally but my 16 year old and lots of his friends freaking love them.

99 in Berkeley right now. My house was built in like 1928 and since we rent obviously there’s been no energy efficient updating of insulation or anything like that since maybe the 60s. It’s like 94 inside right now. Sitting in front of multiple fans just blowing hot air at me this is the life y’all.

Nothing quite like Florida cold springs for sure. I lived in Orlando and definitely took advantage of Rock Springs, Wekiwa, Blue Springs, etc. Truly magical places.

If we stopped growing almonds for the entire freaking world Norcal would have lots and lots of water. 80% of California water goes to agriculture, 20% of that is for tree nuts, and 2/3rds of them are exported overseas.

I do agree (as a Michigan native originally) the best prospects over the next 50 years are Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. But both career prospects and winter make that a hard miss for me.

Leaving Florida was one of the more joyous occasions in my life. I moved somewhere with earthquakes and wildfires, but at least my daughters will have access to reproductive healthcare and if one of my kids turns out gay or trans they won’t be under existential thread. Natural Florida I absolutely love, esp when it used to be weird (a la Carl Hiaasen) but christ almighty is it a failed state.

I think the R is also because she posts all the fucking time about it. I assumed she had some dumb reactionary views but wasn’t quite sure why that was so newsworthy (I’m sure lots of people have dumb reactionary views, esp the ultra wealthy). But she literally posts all day every day about it, it’s fucking bonkers.

For $1M I hope it’s a couple of keys and not just a bump.

I swore off after ultima online, summer 99 and thankfully never picked up WoW. Then only very very casual console gaming into the millennium and nothing else until 5 or so years back when I started playing multi-player Civ V with group of friends. Now I probably have played more hours of Civ V than any game since Diablo 1 but I’m also 40 and have 3 kids lol. Time is a circle apparently.

I understand that but none of the replacements came close to matching the level of content and quality, risa used to always be popping in recent and I’ve not found any of the replacements (I subscribed to them all) to be anywhere near that. Not saying the action wasn’t warranted (it probably was) but still sad.

I don’t really know what drama caused it but when he stopped posting on c/risa@startrek.website it was a sad sad day.
