The “THE_PACK” community is a parody of US biker (motorcycle) culture, where many men refer to their motorcycle as their “hog”.

“Hog” is also a slang term for a man’s penis.

“Cranking my hog” is slang for male masturbation. I think it’s also used to refer to revving up one’s motorcycle in the biker community, but I’m not 100% sure of that (my old man was a biker so I am loosely familiar with some of their slang).

They intentionally misspell “hog” as “hawg” for fun. So it’s just a bunch of guys standing around jokingly referencing masturbation under the guise of talking about riding their motorcycles.

Regulations virtually always lag years behind technology, don’t they? In the interim period with absolutely no regulations, we must take it upon ourselves to protect ourselves and loved ones from being exploited.

Given just how wealthy the AI bubble is making some people, we may not see any common sense regulation for quite some time. Best to adapt to that reality imo. Gonna tell my friends and family to call me by my hacker alias, “X360N0_sc0peX” on the phone or I’ll assume they’re a bot.

I’ve seen this film more than most people (it’s my favorite movie; I’ve seen it probably two dozen times since it released), and I am comfortable discussing any scene wherein you think the viewer’s takeaway is meant to be that “the unexceptional are intimidated by exceptional people and force them to perform inadequacy for the comfort of others and how this is a net loss for society.”

The Incredibles isn’t Randian propaganda by any stretch. This interpretation is wildly missing the film’s messages about society. Brad Bird, the director, called the “Ayn Rand” interpretation of the film “nonsense” and “ridiculous” in multiple interviews when this interpretation started getting parroted by people who didn’t get the point of the film.

I think it got misinterpreted a few times. Some people said it was Ayn Rand or something like that, which is ridiculous. other people threw Nietzsche around, which I also find ridiculous. But I think the vast majority of people took it the way I intended. Some people said it was sort of a right-wing feeling, but I think that’s as silly of an analysis as saying The Iron Giant was left-wing. I’m definitely a centrist and feel like both parties can be absurd.

That sucks man. You went the extra mile to be a good host, so you should be proud of that, regardless!

I’ve had this same experience on Linux Mint. I’ll run apt update & apt upgrade and, occasionally, if Firefox is one of the things being updated, new tabs and new pages won’t load and will tell me I need to do a system restart to continue browsing.

I always update manually, so it never happens without me initiating the update first. But sometimes I’m like, “Dangit, didn’t realize this update would require a restart to keep using Firefox.”

I’m no expert on automobiles, but that truck would need to be 40+ years old to have no computers onboard. It doesn’t look that old to me, though maybe he just kept it in good shape.

I’m decently familiar with deepfakes and I totally didn’t notice Tarkin being off when I saw Rogue One in theaters. I was like, “Wow, that actor has barely aged a day since the original trilogy. Good for him.” I later learned about it being special effects and was like “Damn, they did a good job. Totally fooled me.”

Like, I can see it when I look at it now, only after being told. But the first time, on the big screen? Didn’t notice at all.

I’ve seen some really neat deepfakes over the years. One of my favorites replaces Jack Nicholson with Jim Carrey in “The Shining”, so the creepiness kinda helps, lol

I miss Doritos Blaze. Those mfs were spicier than your run-of-the-mill grocery store potato chip. I don’t think they make them any more; haven’t seen them in years.

The downside of loving spicy food is that there isn’t a huge market for those who enjoy superhots. Many of the spicier products I’ve enjoyed over the years are discontinued cause they (presumably) didn’t sell enough.

I love Hank. I’m 33 and have started doing something similar to this when I have the time and want some peace and quiet. Just sitting on my back porch with an FM radio playing dadrock while staring at the trees and the clouds rolling by.
