I know we’re in a meme community but this did get me thinking… Not only is the Earth spinning but it’s also in an orbit around the Sun which is also orbiting around the center of the Milky Way which is moving through space relative to other galaxies and so on.

Do we have enough information to calculate a position in space in the future for Earth without a fixed reference other than current point?

Technology has always been pushing people of average skill to move forward and find new things. The effort to stop AI from coming after this medium are already lost. Now would not be a great time to bank on an entire career based of drawing art in a style that AI can do. But perhaps there is a form of art that AI can not soon replicate.

There will always be a market for truly expert craftspeople and artists, however, and art as a hobby or personal interest will never cease.

Edit: the reaction is a bit fascinating to me and I’m trying to understand. The ATM machine reduced our need for bank tellers. The automatic phone switching network reduced our need for phone operators. E-commerce reduced the need for cashiers. The advent of computers reduced the need for slide rule operators. You can view this as all bad but by being on an internet forum you’re benefitting directly from people having been freed from these jobs and able to pursue other less replaceable jobs.

  • The TOTP changes every time. For modern totp hashing I’m not sure how many sequential codes a keylogger would need but I’m guessing more than I will ever enter.

Edit, asked ai for an answer to that because I was curious (maybe it’s right):

    Start AI

That being said, if an attacker were able to collect a large number of TOTP codes, they might be able to launch a brute-force attack to try to guess the private key. However, this would require an enormous amount of computational power and time.

To give you an idea of the scale, let’s consider the following:

Assume an attacker collects 1000 TOTP codes, each 6 digits long (a common length for TOTP codes).
Assume the private key is 128 bits long (a common length for cryptographic keys).
Assume the attacker uses a powerful computer that can perform 1 billion computations per second.

Using a brute-force attack, the attacker would need to try approximately 2^128 (3.4 x 10^38) possible private keys to guess the correct one. Even with a powerful computer, this would take an enormous amount of time - on the order of billions of years.

  • Global trade drove the cost of supplies and goods down to the lowest available prices, so while setting tariffs may encourage local production because it makes overseas less attractive, the price of goods still goes up on both scenarios.

If moved locally, there will be more local labor required for production but it’s not clear if that is a net benefit.

Hypothetically under globalism more developed countries shed their “dirty manufacturing labor jobs” and move more people upmarket. Of course this is matter of nonstop debate among economists because as we all know the whole population of a country can’t move upmarket together and a lot of people were/are screwed because of lack of education and opportunity to develop themselves.

In an ideal implemention of this, more people would be moving to the arts, self expression, and technology, while fewer are involved in survival activities like shelter and food.

I think the unsolved problem now is that average people believe way too much of that wealth went to the top while the middle class is working harder than ever and getting less.

Before shrugging and moving on - ask yourself if you support any smaller private media companies in any way at all - enabling them to bring you news with less bias, less agenda, and more fact checking.

It could be by viewing their ads with your ad blocker off, paying a subscription, or donating.

If you are unwilling to support any such media company in any way, I don’t think a complaint that media is all consolidated and doesn’t have your interests at heart is particularly compelling.
