Yeah when i did my house i was quoted $100-200 a drop and that was years ago. I bought materials for 20 drops for about 1k (cables, keystones, plates, cable tester, ethernet cutter, puncher, drywall knife, flex drill bit, wall fishing tape, network switch, and a bunch of other stuff im probably forgetting). It took me 1 hour per drop on average. Some were easy, some were a pain in the ass. Now you can save on materials slightly by doing 1 drop per room whereas i did individual drops for each jack (because i wanted full bandwidth on each line), but either way it is going to end up more costly than an access point or mesh system unless you’re just running one line within the same room.

Definitely worth it if you care about the speed or reliability of your connection but i think for most people these days it’s probably overkill.

If you do go wiring everything then now you’re mostly already set up to do some Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) devices for cameras, access points etc. And next thing you know you’re an amateur home networker!

  • The problem is incels use female to dehumanize and reduce women. That is where its use is popularized from and i can tell you that 95+% of the time i hear someone use female to describe a woman, outside of a clinical setting or paper, they are an incel. Some people like you may not be aware, or care, that this is how it is typically used but that doesn’t make it any less offensive. That isn’t someone being “paranoid” and starting with thinking things are dehumanizing. It is -literally- how the term was intended to be used in the context you’re using it.

Imagine going up to someone and calling them an derogatory term and then telling them they are just being paranoid for being offended. If you don’t see the problem in that then i hope you can reflect on that and what this says about you.

Yeah it’s a sunk cost fallacy. 91 days x 13 hours = 1,183 hours. Even assuming the manager is making $10 an hour they wouldn’t recoup the loss unless they found it early.

    Ofc no manager makes $10/hour.

Let’s make some assumptions. just picking a retail place with firearms managers and i see cabela’s listed on glassdoor reporting $53-91k. Let’s go with the low end 53k. Let’s also assume 40 hours per week and the manager is doing no more than 20% unpaid hours, so 2080 salary hours + 208 “good worker” hours = 2288 total hours worked in a year. 53k salary / 2288 hours = $23/hour effective pay rate. That’s even before considering the benefits package

$10,000 item / $23 per hour = ~435 hours of real time footage before it is a guaranteed sunk cost. This means finding it within first ~37% of footage. Meanwhile 435 hours would effectively take the manager off the floor for a quarter of the year.

I didn’t need to do math to tell you that this is a task given to someone to make them quit. Manager did something else and this how the company decided to get rid of them.

  • In case it’s a serious question, there’s a few reasons but one of them is so that they can be more selective in who they hire but the official reason will be “not qualified” and they can point at that minimum years. Of course they’ll never admit it.

They also do it to discourage so many applications. Or maybe they don’t want to fill the job at all and just say they are trying to get more workers.

The job market also let’s them do it. Out of necessity or desire, people are taking underemployed roles. Meaning that position that requires a masters degree has someone applying with a phd, masters applying for undergrad degree roles, etc.

Lots of other reasons. Doesn’t mean i have to like it though

Not the OP but i think these would still be “making it easier” settings but to their point it is just leveling the player field since people without disabilities already have an easier time playing.

You could adjust things like hitbox size (yours and enemies), the i-frame duration (amount of time invincible after rolling), a game speed setting, setting that adjusts the pacing of fights (such as delays between enemies moves are increased by this setting), damage multipler (yours and enemies), or straight up handicapping player level or attribute scores. Thats just off the top of my head, I’m sure there are plenty of other ways.

The bonus to this is that it could also make the game harder. A lot of people like doing challenge runs and this would add depth to that.

  • Edit. Doh. I misread as “i don’t get it” lol. I’m leaving it anyway for anyone who needs an explanation.

Trump won the US election. The republican plan for trumps presidency is project 2025. In project 2025 they treat women as third class citizens (men are first and fetuses are second). Of the many plans for women, project 2025 aims to use data to identify pregnant women in order to ensure fetuses aren’t aborted. Under project 2025 abortion is illegal, and miscarriages are treated as an abortion until proven that it was a natural miscarriage. The republican party has already started approaching period tracking apps for data, and this post is suggesting to pollute the data in period tracking apps with the idea of making it harder to identify missed periods due to pregnancy.

On a more practical note, however, individual’s tracking their periods should be using open source software to track periods instead to prevent a company from giving away your data.
