  • Absolutely agree on that, our cats are rescues and we’d do the same for any dog.

had a Shepard/retriever mutt growing up, by far the longest lived dog I had, her brother was the longest lived of the litter (and the neighbour’s) at like 16. Have family that show for fun, only do it if the dogs enjoy it, I don’t like the way some people talk about their dogs, definitely not a fan of breeding practices in general.

That’s the extent I remember from grade school, had to make a homepage in like grade 5 and literally everyone had flaming text, crappy gifs, and horrible midi songs. Computer lab must have been a blast for the teachers.

  • Been a bit, so welcome to corrections.

Assuming you get these all in your hand turn one,

Black lotus and mox ruby have zero mana cost, play those. Use the black lotus to give you two green and one of your choice to pay for channel, sacrifice 19 life to add 19 mana to your manapool. Use the mix ruby to pay the red mana cost for fireball and then use the 20 mana in your manapool as the x cost, make opponent take 20 damage and you’re done.

Unless it’s changed, artifacts dont suffer from summoning sickness so you can use the tap abilities out the gate.

There’s some counters like Foil, Force of Will that I think could work or Misdirection. Can’t recall if there’s any instants that do damage that you can discard or exile cards from your hand instead of paying for because that could work too as fireball is a sorcery (if I recall how the stack works correctly)

  • I recall the AI insights feature years ago being a mess, flagged patterns across dimensions, unrelated trends etc, useless noise to slog through, if not outright dangerous if people just assume everything is actionable, maybe it’s gotten better but it’s going to rely heavily on data quality, good governance, the model itself.

Straight up, this is not a good use case for Power BI, tabular is really good at aggregates and analytics, I’d not use it for management like this, especially if there’s already an existing application, as an enhancement though yeah go ahead, but not a full on replacement.

I’d be willing to bet this won’t be done in 2 months and certainly not to budget, to do properly you need to understand business context, data model etc. I’m guaranteeing this is going to be sludge with half-baked power apps, people will complain about the change. Shit the change management for end users will take more than 2 months, took us years to get people to switch off of a barely maintained shift summary report to a Power BI version and that actually was a good use of the tool.

This project gives me nightmares and I’m not even working on it.

  • I’ve seen it mentioned that ryzen is more memory speed sensitive, seen Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 3600 MHz CL16 kit for £35 on UK amazon, see a 32 GB kit for £60 for 3600, £52 for 3200. 32 is super overkill for most people still (shit I recall when 16GB was considered overkill), but it’s cheap enough that it’s harder to say it’s a waste imo.

Side note, GOW is what sold me on hdr and was the game that got me to upgrade from a 780ti and 3rd gen i5, literally couldn’t even run the game.

  • My region breaks it down per property 100k of property value, could get actual numbers but as a % looks like 36.5% for police services for the whole region. Looks like total tax levy is $483 million for the region.

Parks and conservation 1.3%, public health 9.9%, community support 18.1%, transit 7.3%

Actually looking into it, those numbers aren’t accurate reflections of total budgets, total budget is closer to a $1 billion with provincial/federal funding and wastewater charges, policing looks to actually make up ~22% of that total, community services ~46% ~14% public health, parks 0.7%, housing ~3.7%, transit ~8.4%.

Gotta say, the breakdown for property taxes as the big summary I’m not a fan of, just give me overall expenses.

  • First and foremost, I don’t know your circumstances but I can relate and I’m sorry. Your worth isn’t measured by “productivity” or “what you amount to”, you matter. Work Culture and general North American society isn’t great for us with ADHD, all we can do is try our best. I swear to you that even when things look dark and there’s no way out, it does end. I’m going to put a ramble of my experience in a spoiler.

    Long ramble of my experience

My ADHD got me into a pit of credit card debt, small compared to others at just under $19k CAD but I still had $20k+ in my student loan and I couldn’t see a way out, struggled hard, kept deferring payments and hitting overdraft, legit at my worst point I was $20 from bankruptcy, I probably could have got support from family and my at the time girlfriend (now partner) but I was too ashamed of it, I didn’t want to admit it to my partner (and she knew it, I don’t lie well, not that that’s a skill I really want to have). It put a lot of strain on my relationship, made me the most anxious I’ve ever been and very nearly ended my relationship, my life was on the verge of falling apart completely, I’d be lying if I didn’t have the exact same thoughts.

I was diagnosed 3 years ago at 31, I did what my dad (who’s likely got ADHD if not AuDHD, but won’t get evaluated) did and expended all my energy on work to the detriment of other parts of my life, I also struggled with binging (spending is obvious, but also alcohol and food) and emotional regulation.

My partner is the reason I got evaluated, she convinced me to get into therapy (I have a good therapist who has ADHD, didn’t know that when I found them). After diagnosis, it took me at least a year to begin accepting that I have ADHD (funny that putting a name to it changes things right), that it effects everything I do and that I have, and will always have it. Hardest thing was realising just his much of my personality is influenced by it. Medication is helpful but it’s not perfect, but with therapy, it’s helped address some of the maladaptive coping mechanisms I developed.

If you have access to therapy and aren’t already, it helped me immensely. Depending where you live there may be resources you can access through your health authority. We’re here if you want, even just venting can be helpful.

  • I have the belief that ADHD is both over and under diagnosed. If you mask or compensate, even hyperactive or combined get passed off as “quirky behaviour”, loss of structure was massive for a lot of people getting diagnosed during the lockdowns, while I was in that boat too I had already been working towards getting an eval for years.

Also super annoyed about the hoops we have to jump through to get treatment, feel like I’m a criminal for having my meds and I have to call in a refill every single time I need them, the entire processes to even get diagnosed is almost hostile to ADHD (multiple appointments, evaluations, shit my psych gave me homework)

  • I really dislike the locking of the taskbar to the bottom, having to click twice to see all my right click options, having to dig through multiple layers of menus to find a setting, not a fan of copilot being pushed in the OS (though I did totally use cortana back in the day, had some somewhat nice assistant features like traffic monitoring to recommend when I left for work), generally not a fan of for lack of better term “streamlining”, it’s mostly minor annoyances and the like but they add up.

I do really like Auto HDR, winget being there ootb (I think? Was amazing when I migrated work computers), windows terminal is straight up fantastic. It’s still definitely useable, it’s just only on my work machines (no choice, but I live in the terminal, text editors and browser for almost everything so OS doesn’t really matter much to me) and my desktop, run linux on everything else.
