Wow, I actually agree with MTG on an issue, this is a first.

Some dev was very happy when they figured out how to get work to pay for their trip to the furry convention.
It’s not intentional gerrymandering the same way that can happen when laying out congressional districts every 10 years, but it’s a form of gerrymandering from where the state boundaries got drawn. In addition, smaller population states have a disproportionate number of electoral votes, because every state gets 2 votes from their senators + a number of votes from their House members proportional to their population (minimum 1 representative, so minimum 3 total.)
Other than Nebraska and Maine, that splits their electoral votes, its winner take all within each state, so if you win a state by 1 million votes or just 1 vote, either way you win all of the state’s electoral votes.
Someone ran the numbers, based on the 2012-2021 congressional map, and worst case, you could win the popular vote 78.7% to 21.3% and still loose the election.
The Republicans have won the presidency three times this century, but have only won the popular vote once, on George W. Bush’s second campaign in 2004. The Electoral College screwed us over in 2000 (Bush vs Gore) and 2016 (Trump vs Clinton).
The Deomocrats have also won the presidency three times this century, but also carried the popular vote every time they did. (Also, every time they won, Joe Biden has been on the ticket…)
I heard the Dawg Pound in Cleveland is going to pretty empty this Sunday, too. (I’m sure it has nothing to do with Browns having a road game in Jacksonville.)
“This… former president” is also up there. It’s so much fun thinking of all the other options she swallowed during that pause.
It’s a little complicated, because the school district gets its own budget even though the town and the school district have the same boundaries, and school and town taxes are billed and payed together.
School: $51M Town: $19.2M Police expenses: $3.5M
So 18% of municipal expenses, or 5% of municipal + school.
Interestingly, only 3/4 of the municipal income comes from property tax. The rest comes from licenses, permit fees, service fees, registration fees for rec council programs, and even the concession stand revenue at the municipal ice rink.

President Carter’s health is declining, and he’s no longer able to travel, but he’s given Harris a strong endorsement. He’s said to his grandson, “I’m only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris.”
Yes, so many countries were vying for the Olympics that the IOC felt the need to award two games at once before anyone else backed out.
They’re able to recycle 93% of the water on the station. The leftover high concentration waste water, along with the poop bags, are loaded into a Progress or Cygnus cargo ship that burns up on reentry.
