Yeah, I know of plenty of boomers that have had to delay retirement because they simply didn’t have enough money. I’ve known several that finally retired, late, then passed away a few months later. Never got the chance to enjoy retirement at all.

My parents were working part time jobs, instead of relaxing and enjoying retirement, until a few years ago. Those jobs were having obvious effects on their health and well-being, too; I was convinced at least one of them was going to pass away before long. Fortunately, they’re now in a position now where at least they don’t have to work - but my brothers and I sent them money to replace their HVAC system when it died a few months ago, so it’s not like they’re rolling in dough or will leave us some huge inheritance.

How much would it suck to get to 70 and realize you still have to keep working? I mean, if you enjoy it and want to keep working, great, go for it. But to be forced to do it? That would suck. It doesn’t matter what generation you are.

I make the bed, at least my side of it, every day. If I don’t, my wife, along with the cats and dog, won’t give me any covers when I get in.

lol I came upon a BMW that clearly had just missed his turn (he slowed down, realized it was too late to make the turn, then sped up again), then turned on his turn signal to pull into someone’s driveway to turn around.

I said to my wife, “This BMW driver is so lost, they’re using their turn signal!”

The whole show was people being shallow characters. That was the point.

In fairness on the coffee thing, few people have heard the whole story, even now. I think most people today still believe the story was “woman sues because coffee was hot and she got a little burned, and the jury went nuts” and don’t know or care about the actual details.

The other day, someone asked in the Linux community here on Lemmy why people don’t like Ubuntu. It seems someone asks this question every few months. I thought, “I’ve answered several times, I’m done answering it, let someone else take care of it.” Last I saw it had over 100 comments, so I feel the issue is resolved.

Don’t. You’ll just find out all the ways in which it sucks and how you are dumb for liking it. Don’t spoil it. Just enjoy the art on your own terms.

Not enough time and money for all of my hobbies and interests. Gotta come up with a way to earn money but not have to work.

When Mary Tyler Moore got her own show, they aired it before the Dick Van Dyke show, so no one would think they had gotten divorced.

My wife brought a 37" Vizio into the relationship she got in 2008. It still works great. It’s now hanging on the wall in the bedroom (and requires a special bracket because it doesn’t have the VESA specified mount). We have a FireTV that allows us to stream television to it. It has survived two moves, plus being relocated in the house a few times.

So I’m with the guy in the comic - waiting for it to break could take forever.

Our living room TV and Blu Ray player are from that very short time period where you could get a 3D TV setup that uses passive polarized glasses, not active shutter glasses. (We’ve only ever watched one movie in 3D on it.) So even that is at least 9-10 years old at this point.

Obviously I’m not big on getting the latest and greatest TV, but if you wait until it’s broken, it could be a while, in my experience. I’m generally with the wife on upgrading things, ie after they break, but for some things, that might not be a viable plan (or, the reward is worth it).
