Over the decades we’ve made massive strides in equal rights for various marginalized groups. But sometimes the dance takes a step backwards before moving forward again.
I mean, legit true though. A lot of ISPs are selling your data now too.
It’s less secure. Tor encrypts your BROWSER data. VPN encrypts ALL of your data. Your browser isn’t the only thing that you have to worry about regarding privacy.
Do you see how that would make Tor less secure than VPN? Is that clear?
I’m pointing out a false equivalency argument here, not arguing about your semantics. If you wanna start arguing the definitions of words, you’ve already lost.

If you think VPN-using browsers do not have vulnerabilities
VPN is not “a browser”, it’s a network stack. It is separate from whatever you use for a browser. If you use Tor, you still use a browser. So your argument is absolutely coming from an asinine point of view where you clearly don’t understand the technologies behind each.
This was just in October. This is only the latest in a long history of Tor being a target for attacks. Sorry you’re ignorant of that fact, but Tor is quite possibly the worst choice for any task. A VPN will always be faster, more reliable, and more secure.

And, it’s basically the only service where it relies on freely added Tor exit nodes, where anyone can set up a node and start siphoning off data – as data between the exit node and your end path is NOT protected.
Granted, this is the same for VPNs, but anyone can set up their own Tor Exit node. VPNs have a business incentive to make sure not just anyone is in the chain for access to that data.
I can fully saturate a symmetrical gigabit connection with my VPN. I can’t touch a fraction of that with Tor.
Tor is for oppressive countries where anonymity and misdirection are more important than performance. It’s literally worse than a VPN in every single way unless you’re concerned with a major country coming for your head. And even then - Tor isn’t going to save you.

And Tor sucks. You shouldn’t use it for torrenting, it’s frequently targeted by intelligence agencies for IP unmasking, etc.
These fucking things always tip-toe around the issue anyone wants a VPN for: Piracy.

31·18 days agoEven families - watch one family member with wealth die, and watch them all clamor for the remains. Humanity is not selfless. Pretending so is purposely remaining blind and ignorant to humanity’s true nature. “In Group”, “Out Group”…doesn’t matter one bit.
Even within the “in group”, humans still show patterns of greed, dishonesty, etc. Con artists are a great example of this; people who will slip into the group and then work only for themselves.
102·18 days agoYeah, QWERTY was absolutely used to slow down typing as well, but it had a secondary function of spreading out the letters.
DVORAK just has the one function. It didn’t have to contend with other baggage. But it doesn’t mean QWERTY didn’t also have that goal. But since QWERTY handles the same goal that DVORAK does, reasonably well, it doesn’t hit the threshold needed for us to swap over.
Additionally, DVORAK is kind of nasty because it has all of the vowels on the left hand. I just picked a random word “Control” and most of the work is being done by the right hand; most of the time on the same finger row, which is horribly inefficient. Control on QWERTY is roughly equally left and right handed; not clusters of similarly used letters.
A common estimate of the ratio of vowels to consanants in the english language is 3:1 – So you’ll be doing 3x as much work on your right hand than with your left. Which makes DVORAK kind of garbage tbh.
I don’t know how many of you realize this, but our true “Humanity” is being the most violent, ruthless apes in the jungle. Just because we managed to become smart and then used smarts in our violence, doesn’t mean we’re not all still at the core, violent psychopathic apes.
We haven’t lost our humanity at all, it’s on full display for the world to see.
Our “civility” on the other hand, absolutely - is taking a back seat right now. But civility is a social construct.
Nothing about that comment had anything to do with trans people. He was talking about literal perverts. Not trans individuals. As indicated by his qualifier of “non-zero number of people” – clearly referring to someone with the intent of using the rules in their favor, while not being a part of that class of individuals.
This is an incidence of someone basically going “And the murder weapon was a cast iron pan!!”, and someone random in the crowd yelling “WHY ARE YOU TARGETTING ME!!??!” even though nobody suspected them in the first place.
