Since you need your hand held here, this is my perspective: this comic’s humor is just perpetuating a common, incorrect stereotype that women act nice to each other but actually hate each other. The punchline is secretly “women be bitches am I right?” and I believe this because if you swapped either or both of the characters in the comic out for men, it would no longer work as a joke.

Look, folks in the US are extremely on edge about this election (that’s both currently happening through early voting and the last day possible within 2 weeks), and in particular, foreign interference/propaganda. There’s a lot of crap we’re getting from every angle under the sun trying to get “the right people” to vote and “the wrong people” to stay at home, depending on the political inclination. It’s exhausting and we’re having a bad time. We know shit sucks here and we are trying our hardest to not descend further into fascism with a guy who literally admires Hitler. If we get some lightly progressive policies out of it, that’s great. By pushing some “both parties suck” propaganda in this eleventh hour, everyone is going to dog pile you because we’re sick of this so much.

There’s a lot of dog whistles in these TERF/fascist-lite spaces, but one of the early items JKR advocated for was sending trans women to men’s prisons. You should be able to look this up, it’s well known. Would you not agree that that is wishing harm and/or death on trans women?

I’m sure there are plenty more dog whistles that have happened after that one that I’m not versed in, but hopefully that gives you a jumping off point in your fact checking. I’d recommend videos by Shaun, Jesse Gender, and ContraPoints if you are interested in more compilations and perspectives.

If you need to use Google, I’d recommend the &udm=14 trick, as demonstrated on the linked site. It goes straight to a “web only” filter for search results. There are some tricks and tips to set that to your default search option in settings, or you can get a browser extension.

In case anyone read the headline and was worried it would pop up on your computer overnight, it does appear to need some hefty and recent processors and between 6-25GBs free in order to run at all, so I don’t think it’ll sneak up on folks any time soon.

On the bad news front, I thought this was standard AI bad until I got to the part where it won’t obscure passwords. But, surprise, it will obscure DRM content (and private browsing, but just if you’re using Microsoft Edge).

Terrible for privacy aware consumers but I really anticipate the worst of this will be in a corporate setting. Plenty of employers already spy on employees but this would be pretty next level.
