I think we need to think about these things because I think we are rapidly heading to a darker place.

I don’t think we can rely on there being a large amount of people like you to take all the hits. I think we need to find a way to share the work amongst everyone to get to a better place. So I think having the expectation that everyone works against their most deeply held interests like family is one that will make us weaker as a whole.

Yes, you can choose your job, but it is a pretty big pain in the butt to do so. I don’t feel like the “you can just get a better job” argument is a strong one in general.
