We had a family or two of mice living under our kitchen a few months back. We ended up killing 13 total. It was horrible. I hate killing things, even if there’s no better way to deal with them as pests. It just broke my heart every time.
Now their hole is stuffed with steel wool and sealed with foam though, so I think we should be safe from their return.
Living in a Christian nationalist surveillance state sure is fun! 🙃
Ah yes, the superhuman ability to make my living space a mess
Ding ding! After the Proton fiasco, I got a domain and have started moving my accounts to that email, which connects to Tuta
Getting pretty tired of shithead Nazis claiming they’re autistic. Autism doesn’t make you a Nazi
He is Murray Bookchin, an anarchist philosopher who developed the theory of social ecology. Although he kind of got disillusioned with anarchism later on and created his own thing called communalism
Continued to support Democrats after they fucked him in the 2016 primary, I’m guessing?
I don’t know, I still like him
Who cares? Texting is meant to be a convenience, not something that demands my attention. That’s the beauty of texting vs a phone call - I have time to think and do other things before replying
My issue was not that Andy Yen made the comment he did (as much as I disagree). My problem was the Proton account making an official statement doubling down on it.
He did make a subsequent post trying to clarify and apologize, but at this point, the cat is out of the bag, IMO. I’m switching to Tuta for email, Mullvad for VPN, and self-hosting Nextcloud for storage.
It sounds like we have similar long term plans! For what it’s worth, I’ve heard that homesteading can be great for folks with ADHD, since there are such a wide variety of ways to approach it and tasks that need doing, that it sates our need for novelty to stay engaged with things.
Oh, sure! The other comments did a pretty good job of explaining things. In my case, I struggled a lot with procrastination and getting sidetracked easily, which led to the lazy descriptor. And as for the sensitive, I tend to feel my emotions strongly and quickly, and I also have rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD), so I tend to easily assume I’m being socially rejected
Especially when you don’t have the hyperactivity part (used to be ADD, now it’s ADHD - inattentive type), this makes so much sense as to why I was just called lazy and sensitive as a kid and teenager. Getting diagnosed in my late 20s made so many things make sense in hindsight.
I would say so, yes. If solarpunk is the aesthetic vision of the future we hope for, social ecology provides a political critique and path towards achieving that vision.
Ecology of Freedom, The Next Revolution, and Post-Scarcity Anarchism are all good
In this context, the meme is talking about liberals not in the American conservative vs liberal sense, but in the liberalism sense. Whereas leftists, who most Americans would think of as “extremely liberal”, are not actually liberals at all, since we oppose free market capitalism and private property.
I am here to chew bubble gum and post memes in the memes community, and I’m all out of bubble gum
Despite the meme, I totally agree! Most liberals I encounter are well-intentioned, but have been indoctrinated into thinking that capitalism is the best system we have available. Being patient and answering questions that explain what you actually believe, not what they’ve been told you believe, goes a long way. That said, being patient like that definitely a skill that is not always easy to get right, and certainly takes practice.

I mean, of the possible sponsors out there, Ground News is pretty alright. I don’t particularly need another subscription, but it seems like a valuable enough service
