  • I can get that, but personally I haven’t had much issue myself. I have 2 Samsung 34" ultrawide screens, and their model is LC33G55TWWN. I just tell people what I said before, 34" Samsung Ultrawides. They do have an easier name: Samsung 34” Odyssey G5 Ultrawides. Many others can be as ambiguous as your iPhone example, which also will have multiple actual model numbers, like A3084, A3295, A3296, A3297. Some are for specific regions, while one is global. You don’t need to share that with others, but can be important in technical situations.

Most computer hardware I deal with have both friendly names and technical model numbers, like almost everything, from car parts, engine models, to washer and dryer parts. I had to use model numbers to find the right replacement lint filter on my dryer, instead of guessing on Amazon.

I suppose I don’t understand the complaint, as friendly names definitely exist, while model numbers are extremely useful.

  • I always find tge “only on x” comments to be an incredibly stupid form as hyperbole. Either you’re an idiot who doesn’t realize people will say the same type of stuff on discords, forums, Twitter, Facebook, whatsapp, texts/dms, and a plethora of other places, or you do know and you just ignore it to criticize the platform for whatever reason.

Since you’re attacking (as others pointed out) a decentralized platform that anyone can spin up (including Nazis and the like) by trying to make us a monolith, I’m leaning more to the first, but I guess you could just be a troll.

  • It’s not a joke based on nothing. It’s based on how many of the people who want mass deportation will always assume someone is an immigrant based on looks, language, skin color. I’ve seen lots of right wing people talk about seeing illegals at an airport or non Americans. How do they know? Did they check their papers, passport, etc?

No. They just looked at em and knew somehow.

  • I still replay those and enjoy them. Final Fantasy Tactics, War of the Lions as well. Personally I think they hold up, with maybe Secret of Mana being the worst of the three. I’m extremely positively biased toward Secret of Mana though as it was the first game me, my brother, and my sister could play at the same time on SNES, and was the first game we got with the system for that exact reason (we first experienced it visiting another house, before we even had a SNES, and they had a splitter. They showed us Secret of Mana and some multi-player basketball game I can’t quite recall).

It’s such a positive memory of us all being able to enjoy the same activity together without fighting over controllers etc(though maybe some fight over characters :P)

  • I think it isn’t illegal if it can’t grow a plant, so if heated or ground. You can buy ground hempseed, and i think i have some downstairs. Still, imports and such are much trickier, which is probably why they don’t use it for exports. Also other countries may have stricter imports, and perhaps the company doesn’t want the headache of verifying which market to send which product to.

It’s similar to how most companies just conform to Californian restrictions rather than make different products for different states in the US.

  • In IT, and have been since 99. I cared more about porn(adware, viruses, etc used to be more frequent on them) than other groups I expected to caresometimes. A regional managers laptop was acting slow, so sent back to us. During cleanup I found porn among other issues, and reported it to their manager. The response was basically:

“How much longer before you can return the laptop to them?” They just wanted em up and running again. Now at an MSP, and we’ve found porn on fileservers, often time by the owners of the company.
