Franz Ferdinand was an excuse to start ww1, not the cause. The declining monarchies in Germany and other countries were looking for any excuse at that time to flex their remaining muscle in the face of a world which increasingly didn’t need them.

It was the last song of monarchist expansion.

But yes, killing Franz Ferdinand was the catalyst that gave them the excuse they needed. If it hadn’t been that though, it would have been something else shortly after they would have seized on.

I know exactly what happened here having just done a renovation on a basement with a completely fucked up bathroom.

They re-used the existing piping and lines when replacing the tub and shower surrounds.

They wanted to save a few hundred dollars and/or effort of moving the pipes to center up with the prefab tub/surround, and just figured they could drill the hole into the surround for the shower attachments wherever.

They’re correct, but that doesn’t make them right.

  • To clarify, we likely wouldn’t end as a species.

Dinosaurs were ended with a roughly 10-15km meteroirite hitting earth, and causing months of distortions and damage to the ecosystem that disrupted their way of life enough that they starved or died of other causes.

They were not nearly as adaptable as we are in modern times.

To be sure, a lot of progress would die, and life would be greatly disrupted, but we, as a species, would almost certainly survive a similar event.

  • This is a non issue. It’s like saying hackers used a programming language to write malicious code.

Of course they did. How else would they do it?

They’re just using the Godot engine (C#) to do it instead of the python interpreter.

Edit: The people downvoting appear to not understand how this works.

They wrote a module and made it available through the Gadot GodLoader “marketplace” for people to download. You could do the same thing with Unity3D, or UnrealEngine, or the Android store, or the Apple Store. The difference is those have safeguards from paid people and systems to verify the authenticity and maliciousness of the tools/code that are submitted. Gadot/Godloader lacks these controls in their system.

The only thing it’s really doing it running arbitrary code. Arbitrary code the user would have to in some way allow it to run by installing an unknown/unverified script.

Similar to something like the Greasemonkey extension for FF/Chrome.

When you use modules and tools like this you are taking a risk that you are able to self-monitor, otherwise only run scripts/download modules from trusted sources.

There’s nothing specific about Gadot’s system here, this is like clickbait.

  • It’s a simple design, like a boxcar you’d race with your dad at the local boy scouts event. It appeals to children who don’t understand how airflow works and just like seeing big bulky tank like things. To them, it looks like a Tonka toy.

But in the real world, things like fluid dynamics are important.
