I see no reason to hope that will change. The Democratic party operates more like a ratchet than a true alternative. The Republicans lurch us to the right and the Democrats ratchet is back a bit to the left and pat themselves on the back.

The parallels are stark, but the German results are less worrying to me than the American.

Maybe I will be wrong in a month or a year, but so far the Germans are in the “unhappy with the system, try the other major party” stage rather than the “burn it all down and give it to the strongman” stage we find ourselves in here in America.

Trump just replaced the the chairman of the joint Chiefs of staff (the highest military position) with a syncopant. He has 4 more years to purge the military and he is absolutely going to try.

If the military stops his coup, it will be the lower ranks overthrowing the leadership. I have no faith. The military will be a different beast by the time trump goes for a third term.

The German results are more like the US in 2004. If they are headed to the same fate they are 20 years behind us.

Trump got more votes in 2020 than he did in 2024, but kamala got even less of Biden’s votes.

Biden remains the highest presidential vote getter in history.

That depends on what you want to accomplish.

If the only thing that matters to you is going to the polls every 1-2 years, than non voters are meaningless.

If you want to transform society. Voting is only one vector. Unions, mutual aid, protest, consciousness raising, and so on don’t have anything to do will polls, and non voters can be valuable allies.

Hijacking a plane wouldn’t be enough. Plane highjackings were nothing new. They were even common back in the 60’s. Conventional wisdom was you cooperate with the highjackers. They have to land eventually.

Nobody anticipated suicide highjackers.

2001 you could use a pay phone to stay anonymous.

This is a serious part of the problem. Home insurance, car insurance, can be bad, but at least you don’t usually have to deal with them. You can go years without needing anything from your home insurance.

You WILL need healthcare, minimum once a year. Most people need it every month or every few months. Your car insurance doesn’t pay for your oil changes or new tires because those are guaranteed maintenance costs, not unexpected emergencies.

Thank you, I looked into the pics and such back in 2008-2010 because Biden has been a public figure doing this forever. That’s what I learned and it pisses me off that people weaponize these photos against low information voters without regard for his actions.

He’s not. He’s 80 years old and got going when kissing babies was good retail politics. He whispers to children because he has lost 3 of his 4 children and his first wife and he knows how precious children and families are.

This both sides narrative is FUD, and it’s dangerous for Americans, Ukrainians, even Palestinians.

Withholding your vote from Biden is peak virtue signalling. It does nothing for Palestinians, they are even more screwed with Trump than they are now. Trump already screwed them over moving the US embassy to Jerusalem and becoming the only nation to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli Capital.

Protest, boycott, form a union or convince yours to strike, by all means, electoral politics is not the only or the most important political arena.

But complaining about Biden online to people that already don’t like him is worse than useless.
