In Arma 3 they have the A-164 Wipeout which is either the coolest thing ever or a cursed monstrosity depending on who you ask

The B-52 is very old and there is no real replacment. The newest one was made in 1962
The C-130 was designed at about the same time and they’re still making new ones right now

And then there’s a ton of people that have guns, train when they can and hope they never have to use their skills outside of the range or competitions. We never ever hear about them because they are normal people
If you like guns as a technology Open Source Defense is a good newsletter imo. They don’t delve into politics thankfully but look at how laws are implemented, improving safety at scale etc

It’s crazy to think that Humvees were designed with war in Europe in mind. They are pretty wide and may have been wider if they didn’t have to worry about train tunnels
1·16 days agoCigarettes smell gross objectively but I get a wave of…nostalgia I think? when I smell it
My parents never smoked, but on the rare occasion of going to a sit-down restaurant the whole place smelled of cigs despite being in the “non smoking” section. You know because you’re still in the same room with them.
And when my dad would visit his fire department friends they’d all hang around and at least one of them had one lit up.
We do live in better times in some ways

Destroyed/malfunctioning equipment is one thing but lost/missing/potentially stolen things are technically the responsibility of the person/unit it was issued to
Sometimes the unstoppable force of reality meeting the immovable object of bureaucracy leads to frustrating situations
Black Rifle Coffee recently released a surprisingly well done youtube documentary on Fallujah and one of the guys interviewed was the dude in this pic.
He said that particular grenade was a dud
