There isn’t actually any citation for this, there is however a bunch of articles written pointing to the red tape around reward money and saying “maybe” he wont be paid. But so far I havnt seen anything that shows this as more than conjecture

I remember learning through multiple personal experiences some time during highschool that some adults were vastly less intelligent and wise than some of my fellow 16 yr olds, it was shocking to me. Honestly I think some people hit puberty and just began coasting, ego and entitlement outweighed curiosity, and they began to live with the belief that society’s collection of history, science, and reasoning, was worth less than their own personal opinion.

I feel odd about sex ed in school. On one hand I believe it to be such an intimate topic that goes beyond basic reproduction which is what the school will only teach. The discussion should cover romance, intimacy, and emotional intelligence, but that doesn’t happen unless the parent is teaching it. On the other hand I know that many just wont do it at all, and the school teaching it is better than a large group of people just not knowing.

This being said Id never argue against sex ed, the people who do are dipshits.

Also, as far as CEO’s go, speaking from an outside perspective obviously, the man is wonderful. Valve makes solid business decisions in favor of long term growth instead of short term profits. They do this buy making sure that their platform is easy, safe, reliable, and not abusive for their consumers. They institute their own consumer protections into the platform that make them less money, just to make sure they remain a place we WANT to shop, when everyone else tries to make themselves the only place to shop, and then fucking over their consumers at every opportunity. Valve is a fucking case study on how companies should be ran, and a perfect display of how modern american capitalism is ruining everything, by being the antithesis of it.

As someone who just last week cut windows out it does feel like this can be true. I am annoyed that xorg doeskin handle multiple monitors with varied refresh rates, so you use wayland instead, but wayland doesn’t play nice with remote access programs, and then you find out that nothing will allow you to use gsync/freesync unless all of your monitors can use it. Also as someone who uses Autocad daily I have to figure out a gpu passthrough VM at some point.

So i am losing the some of my “ideal” setup in my move to linux, but im still happy to lose a smidgen of things I want for the far greater advantage of not worrying about windows updates reinstalling bloatware, or harvesting data that goes above and beyond what anyone else has been doing up to this point. I’m kind of unwilling to have my OS monitoring me, and i can read the witting on the wall, it will only get worse.

Since I work with AutoCAD daily I feel like Ive been hearing about FreeCAD for what feels like a decade or two. I cant believe it has been pre 1.0 all this time.
