it’s 3.50 for a small where you are? holy cow, it’s roughly like $1 or $2 here for a normal tall glass. The only place that’s really up there in price for soft drinks are fast food establishments like McD which have around 3$ for a large.

I’m seeing that apparently but yeah, I’m up in Maine close to the border, almost every establishment that has those machines generally also have a sign that says no refill and I really can’t think of any place here that advertises refills as free outside of coffee at dine in establishments.

I recently went on vacation and experienced this for the first time,

I have never personally done it myself, but when I was in Florida one of my friends would do it every time they entered an establishment they would buy a drink they would drink the drink during the time there and then on their way out they would refill it on the soda fountain. Asked them about it and the response was that they found the establishments that have the soda fountain able to be used by customers generally seemed to have a free refill policy.

I have never heard of that, it’s not a thing in my state, and I don’t think they actually do, but nonetheless I never saw her get stopped by any employee for doing it, and just by sitting at the table eating I could see that it definitely was not just her doing it.

I’ve noticed there’s an overwhelming amount of people that are subscribed to this community for some reason, that tend to majorly over analyze the strip this is the third post I’ve seen today where the top three is either complaining or something negative about the post. It’s weird

Being said I don’t think this person is really complaining, I definitely don’t agree with the juxtaposition of don’t speak out when abused because I didn’t get that from that post at all and I still don’t understand how they came to that conclusion but, it’s a trend I’ve noticed

Despite the fact that I have family in florida, I would definitely swap florida and California status, least Cali does something good for the country with their tech innovation and privacy laws. I can’t recall the last time Florida did something good

I ended up finding a way to delete the login/subscription window which gave access to the UI as if I was a premium member, I laughed, downloaded my photos and then deleted my account. Glad to see they at least have a link now

Yea power outage makes sense given what it does. It’s good that you got it cheaper, currently see the pods starting $2500 and the higher end is $5500, for a bed that requires a $17-27 a month subscription, and doesn’t work if you lack internet is insane to me. excluding the warrenty part of it. Sad to see they downgraded their protections and quality

Stupidly enough, if you read their warranty policy, they got around the fact that it’s not legal for a warranty company to remove a warranty for modding the equipment, by forcing you to have a subscription in order to use the warranty. Their website states

The Pod is a product designed to be slept on every night – and designed to last. We stand behind our product with a 2-year limited warranty, meaning if you have any issues or problems, our team will replace your Pod device as long as you purchased directly through Eight Sleep and have an active membership.

Since this membership is the same thing that is connected to controlling the bed through the app from what I understand, it sounds like even if you did mod it you would still be stuck with that remote solution due to the fact that if you canceled your subscription you wouldn’t have a warranty, inviting a warranty on a at minimum $2,500 bed is just no bueno

This is definitely a device that I would be putting my States warranty law into effect, because this sort of shit ain’t legal in my state

my opinion, I would have returned it for that reason. Having a bed that doesn’t work if I lose power or have an internet outage is a hard no for me. Especially concidering the price range a lot of those start at 2k+ USD. The lack of an ability to use it without an app is a deal breaker, the lack of an ability to use it locally is almost as bad

edit: holy cow the more I read the site the more red flags I see, $2,500 minimum for a bed that doesn’t even have a warranty unless you have an active subscription that hasn’t expired since you bought the bed, the extended warranty is a 5-year warranty that is of course an additional amount of money with the same conditions. I’ve never seen a bed that didn’t have an at least 10 year warranty on it out of the box, most offer a 15 to 20 year warranty.

I had a strict I don’t answer the phone when not working policy. They could attempt to call me in but it wouldn’t be recieved. If they asked me while I was at work I usually said yes, but I’m not about to come in on an hours notice for the same rate of pay, if you want on call, pay for on call.

Changes it to a more friendlier term, it saying copy without tracking is acknowledging that the site is using tracking data, where would the new terminology if you don’t know what those parameters are then you just think it’s a shorter link.

Neither changes the fact that it’s happening in the first place, but one is directly addressing the elephant in the room where one is hiding under the rug

That being said reading that link, I do agree with some of the complaints that they have, but I still think it should have remained the same because that’s exactly what the system does. It best attempts to remove tracking information from the URI

they wouldn’t be there anymore I don’t think. If it was the free tier they locked photos behind the premium tier a few years back with a timer saying if you didn’t opt into premium and download your photos you within a few months they were going to be nuked, unless it was all scare tactics

doesn’t surprise me, this is the same company that held their free tier hostage when they decided to remove it by threatening the users that if they wanted their photos back they needed to buy their premium for a month

They probably were paid to change the terminology, it doesn’t look good for any website when you have the browser saying copy without tracking the URL that’s copied is half the size

The fact that they figured it was easier to keep someone there than to just have it leave a voicemail saying our machines are down we are temporarily closed it’s insane
