  • Some of us have real lives to get on with and are willing to do the work behind the scenes, while we get on with that. My community has buried three since the since the end of October, two have recently been diagnosed with cancer and another two are in stage four. There are also considerations of paying bills. Just because we’re not wallowing in self-pity doesn’t make anyone anything other than busy. Mutual aid, direct action. Voting for the major parties isn’t the answer.

  • Probably. I just meant that’s the mindset of certain men in our area. Certain meaning if they want the trad wife but realize a single income isn’t enough. Or whatever else is convenient, I guess. I’m just going by those I’ve known in a concentrated region, not all men are like that and I’m so glad!

  • It’s even worse than that. They want women to work full time, keep all the housework done, assume all the work with the child after work, while cooking dinner, washing up, stay looking fantastic, never complain and oh, mow the lawn while I’m playing golf/bball/football on Saturday, and don’t forget Suzie has ballet on Wednesday, Bobby has detention on Friday, and football practice on Saturday.

  • Thanks. I’m not partial or full retirement age yet and I don’t take any medications beyond aspirin or paracetamol. I’m supposed to, but I don’t have funds for that or insurance either, right now. A lot of the meds I’m okay without anyway, afaict. But this is information I’ll definitely look into. I’m okay being outside the city as long as I can get there or get what I need. I assume public transportation might be available, outside city or suburbs?

Have you ever been to Laos, Cuba or Vietnam? Can you please tell me a bit about any of those you’ve visited? Thanks.

  • How would someone with zero savings move to another country? Most have every barriers of highly skilled, unfilled professions. Like who move from extremely underprivileged nations to extremely wealthy nations often end up surrendering passport and other critical documents to their employers and end up severely mentally and physically abused, sexually abused, trafficked. How would an older person even pay for required documents, let alone a living space, food, utilities, especially being monolingual?
