  • Ice cream boneheads, the lot of you!

Ice cream is three basic ingredients: cream, sugar, salt.

Anything other than that cannot be considered “plain” ice cream!

Also, I make my own ice cream and I agree that cardamom is top-tier. Shockingly good with a few drops of brewed espresso as well!

  • People are being kind of snotty but there’s a difference between the stuff in stores that is portrayed as ice cream but it’s actually not.

There are all kinds of “frozen desserts” and “iced treats” etc that use vegetable oils, emulsifiers and such to simulate the ice cream experience, and those tend to also use lower-grade flavorings.

Real ice cream is pretty expensive because it uses mostly real cream and tends to use much higher quality ingredients overall. In a real ice cream product, you’re more likely to get actual cocoa vs chocolate-y flavor. Red from actual fruit vs a food dye mixed into corn syrup.

  • Just hot air.

I’ve been making my own tortillas for a decade and I can tell you there’s nothing newly wrong with the corn flour. It’s the same it’s always been.

Yeah it’s always best to have heirloom with minimal processing, but I’d rather have 100 homemade tortillas with basic nixtamalized corn flour for $3 not $30

This article is a bunch of wind.

  • The cruel reality is that humans kill and steal from each other in competition for resources and security. Doesn’t matter if it’s a bullet to the head or a dishonored agreemen. Land belongs to nobody, and whoever shows up and beats the fuck out of whoever’s there now “owns” it. It is very hard for people to look at several hundred K of years of human history and realize it’s always been this way and never will change.

  • It’s like the entire Web went to shit in 6 months.

Last week I was researching hot tubs and saunas and so forth, as I was gifted a 10 visit spa pass.

Top result was rambling and obviously AI generated, packed with keywords and very little information presented in haphazard way, that was telling me that the ideal water temperature for maximum therapeutic benefit in a hot tub is 130-140F.

Yeah no problem. Once I get used to 140F water I’ll work my way towards something hotter, perhaps boiling peanut oil.
