  • I think we agree on like, 99% of stuff.

I just think we have several medical diagnosises that are actually 2 of more issues/causes that share enough similarites to be called the same thing. Like ADHD for example, some cases that fall well within the requirements of ADHD have been linked to parental substance use during pregnancy, but not all those who suffer from ADHD do so because of parental drug use.

Its been my understanding that there are multiple possible causes behind what we call autism, and that autism has been correlative with poor gut health in a portion of those cases. Obviously, gut health isnt “in control” of whether or not a person has autism. I’ve read a few things, however, that have suggested a link between gut microbiome and the severity of certain cases of autism, and might affect risk of related conditions.

I have no clue if its true, and I’d certainly never claim anything can be done to cure autism, ADHD, etc just by food/pill etc. I’m AuDH myself, 100% vaccinated, and pro-science all the way though, So I promise wasn’t baiting.

  • Did I miss something? The gut-AU/HD link was established as legit enough to continue research for a while now, its just that idiot ex-doctor saw the language being used and ran with it to make money off of telling people that the old MMR vaccine may lead to some fake ass desease that caused autism.

Gut biome is pretty important and relevant to internal medicine throughout. I’ve not heard anyone say for certain that all ADHD cases are caused by bad gut health, but neither did the comment you are strawmanning.

  • Hard disagree. This, like all of privacy decisions, is entirely situational.

I’m setting out to the exact thing OP is, for both plying my craft, and accessing local community post about resources and events.

Don’t get me wrong, I fucking hate Meta, but I also hate being unhoused. I’ve spent months going back and forth weighing such a decision’s impact on my situation and determined the value I can get out of it to be worthwhile.

Your comment is absolutist and absurd, and total turn off for those interested in joining various privacy communities.

  • If you have a SSN, you have a number.

Well I totally get this entire system is mismanaged horribly designed from the start not even designed for this from the start, exetera…

Having some kind of standardized way of stating someone else’s trustworthiness when it comes to money lending it’s something that’s just inherit to capitalism as long as you have capitalism simple as that, even if they don’t call it a credit score.

  • Your data has monetary value to google. Giving them access, without getting any money from them (or even knowing what ways it will be used) is not something you must do.

If the app provides enough value that is unique to it, then thats OK, but if a data-respecting alternative exists that costs nothing to download or use, and fits the same (or more) needs, then using it just makes sense.

If thats not you, then thats ok.

I also use keep, but thats because I haven’t degoogled my phone yet, so they already have most if not all of that data. Once I am in a position to be able to root and remove google without risking bricking my device (currently unhoused, and just cannot risk it rn), then I plan on never touching the damn thing.

    To each their own.

  • I’m sorry, but fuck Wendy’s. Yes, capitalism is in decline around us all, but fuck Wendy’s for deciding they’re gonna be the first in fast food to push that envelope to full-blown-shit mode. And their burgers are just eh.

(Hey, pssst… so, quoting etiquette typically means you’re not using the quoting carrot on something not in the the comment you are replying to without noting it in the comment somehow. I was staring very confused at my replies inbox for, like, 4-5 read throughs of your reply, because its an opinion I could have typed, and couldn’t remember at all lol. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️)

  • Which is hilarious, because its not as if they pay enough people to be on shift at the same time so that they could make their menu items efficiently. The last 2 dozen times I’ve had to pick up someone’s order from one of 5 or so local Subway’s, they have had 1 single person running the entire joint. I’ve made it a point to ask every time I go:

    • -how many people are supposed to be working today?

1, and about half of them opened alone, and all were closing alone! (Even young women!!!)

    • -Is it always this busy? (Every time its a 12-30min wait for them to even begin the order)

Always gets met with some form of “Yes, or even busier, with the occasional half hour where nobody comes in”

    • -Are you the manager?

    Nope.

Its at that point I tell them to take all the time they need. And that they are dramatically underpaid and should riot…
