  • state is, ideally, composed of elected representatives

    oligarch-led private armies oppressing people.

    They’re the same picture.

Elections are a venue for competiting oligarchs - US elections are largely just a wealth check - with the bonus that afterwards people feel they’ve chosen their oligarchs and are less likely to notice that 90%+ of elected representatives only represent the interest of elites.

I do the same thing at work when I need mentally ill people to do what I say. “You can do what I want version A, or do what I want version B, which one?” always works better than “Do what I want!”

I agree that violence management is a very difficult problem with no easy solution. But I don’t think giving full control of legitimate violence to the rich is the best solution, which is what a state of elected representatives does.

A patient I dealt with had schizophrenia and dementia, “but I’m a man, not a little girl with panties” was his counterargument to everything.

You can only have one cigarette at a time because otherwise you lose them all and run out. “But I’m a man.”

You know the doctor says your food needs to be cut up. “Do I look like a little girl to you?”

That’s the communal cheese bowl, this is your plate. You can’t eat from the communal cheese bowl with a fork. “Do you see me wearing panties?”

Whenever I hear people making these kind of gender essentialist arguments, they just sound pitiably out of touch with reality to me.

  • “Fear coded” is an interesting construction. That is easier to say than “betrays a fear based thought process”, which is what it sounds like to me. Different enough from something like ‘fearful thinking’ that I can see why it would be used.

The Pleiadian stuff is just too much nonsense for me to want to understand anything used in that context.

I searched just ‘pleiadian’ on google and got both an ‘About’ and the 3rd result linking to a misspelled PDF on IRS.gov about “ancier& extraterrestrials” Um what? I’ve never been so tempted to click a link that I know I shouldn’t click.

  • Remember when Silvio Berlusconi lied, cheated, raped and stole his way through public life, gaining wealth and fame, dying at the ripe age of 86 without facing justice and after having set the stage for even more extreme fascists to take over?

History shows that often, very often, the baddies just win.

  • Everybody please go vote! That said, I just don’t think it is nihilism.

Some of it is accelerationism - the idea that the worse the ruling class treat people they closer society gets to a revolution that will improve things drastically more than voting for dems would. I think that’s flawed, but it’s not nihilism.

A lot of it is propaganda. Oligarchs on both sides of the bering straight have been ploughing cash into amplifying any messaging that will depress left turnout. This isn’t nihilism, it works because people believe things - we are social primates and conforming with a group is essential for our survival.

And a small amount is people who have legitimate emotional reasons, like relatives killed in israel’s genocide. Not voting doesn’t help that situation, but that emotional reality is not nihilism.
