I heard a really good explanation of this on NPR. Homeless is a label put on a person, similar to saying a person is a redhead. The implication of saying that someone is homeless is that it defines who they are, that it cannot be easily changed.

Unhoused is more descriptive of the situation that a person is in. This is a condition that can be changed, it isn’t who the person is.

As I revisit this and think it through though, it seems like another way of pushing the goal. There are absolutely negative connotations with the word homeless, but the same venom will eventually attach to unhoused as well.

Nothing in the 14th section 3 says he must be charged with it even tried for insurrection. When I was just starting off in my career, my mentor told me about Scott as a cautionary tale. Scott was a hard working, and dedicated employee. He started with the company on a factory floor. He was known for always working overtime when it was available, and the first person to call if you needed someone to cover a shift.

The company was investing heavily in IT and people it determined were intelligent enough and dedicated enough to do the job. Scott was brought into a training program, sent to some classes, and pulled from the factory floor to an office job.

Scott maintained his work ethic, even though he was salaried he found value in working extra. He felt he was noticed and that his efforts were appreciated. He was also able to pick up new skills and knowledge much faster than his coworkers because he worked more hours.

In the United States we vote for people not party. Every ballot is different depending on the year and where you live.

This November I will vote for

• President/VP
• 1 of 2 US Senate seats (the other will be voted on in 2 years)
• My US House Representative
• My State House Representative
• A county board seat
• A city commissioner
• Retention of certain judges
• A school board seat
• A board member for our water district

If I choose to do so I could vote for multiple political parties across the ballot. Which is great because I might agree with my local green party of local issues but still want to vote for Democrats nationally.

I would really like to see us remove the electoral college, implement RCV or STAR. And move towards more of a proportional representation system.

Edit: Also worth mentioning that how elections are run also depends on where you live. States actually control how their citizens elect a President, I believe 2 are using RCV this year. Some states also allow local communities to choose how they elect local officials.
