  • The right wing propaganda machine is too powerful. A close friend of mine works a trade and he’s constantly being engaged with right wing talking points. He voted for Trump. He lives with another close friend who has a master’s in history who constantly refutes all the talking points but I doesn’t matter when all his coworkers, his social media and online media are riling him up with this shit.

At my job I’ve spoken to Hispanics, that can barely speak English, that are die-hard Trump fanatics. Feels like I’m taking crazy pills.

  • Agreed with your point that we just need to stop supporting businesses that use the the tip system. We also need to reward restaurants with our business for moving away from that great depression structure and pay livable wages. If a business can’t afford to pay it’s employees then that business shouldn’t exist. Tip culture these days is just a way for restaurants to advertise less for menu prices. Just raise your prices by 20% and pay that to the server.

Now there is a portion of servers that are against this, because they work in high scale fine dining places where they make more than 80% of other servers in diners and sports bars elsewhere, and that kinda sucks that they’d promote this antiquated system since it works for a select few.

  • Agreed. This is a terrible take. Is basically implying “both sides are the same”, a staple in the ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM group but they’re not. Blue side wants to maintain the status quo and maybe, very slightly, make light progressive changes (but again very small changes) while red side is trying to destroy social safety nets (cutting socials security), women’s autonomy (roe vs wade and more) and democracy itself (Jan 6). That’s not to mention that Republicans for the most part built their ideology based off hate. Their drive comes from reactionary outrage.
