  • I thought I was going insane before I knew what was happening. It feels like there’s something I should be noticing that I’m not. And whatever that thing is, man is it ever important to the brain. Even though it won’t tell me what the thing is. Alright then, keep your secrets.

  • Your point is not only valid but also significant, and I feel stands in addition, not contradiction, to my point. These people now have something to continuously bounce ideas off; a conversational partner that never says no. A perpetual yes-man. The models are heavily biased towards the positive simply by nature of what they are, predicting what comes next. You (may or may not) know how in improv acting there’s a saying called “yes, and” which serves to keep things always moving forward. These models effectively exist in this state, in perpetuity.

Previously, people who have ideas such as these will experience near-universal rejection from those around them (if they don’t have charisma in which case they start a cult) which results in a (relatively, imo) small number of extreme cases. I fear the presence of such a perpetual yes-man will only accelerate all kinds of damage that can emerge from nonsensical thinking.

  • Totally fair point but I really don’t know if that’s true. Most mainstream delusions have the side effect of creating community and bringing people together, other negative aspects notwithstanding. The delusions referenced in the article are more akin to acute psychosis, as the individual becomes isolated, nobody to share delusions with but the chatbot.

With traditional mainstream delusions, there also exists a relatively clear path out, with corresponding communities. ExJW, ExChristian, etc. People are able to help others escape that particular in-group when they’re familiar with how it works. But how do you deprogram someone when they’ve been programmed with gibberish? It’s like reverse engineering a black box. This is scaring me as I write it.

  • Your hatred for Trump is clouding your opinion of the economics of jobs.

Wow, a real life mind reader. What’s it like to be inside someone’s head and tell them how their mind works? Pretty cool.

I think this country was already broken well before he was in office, so you really can’t blame him for that.

You had me in the first half, but then lmfao really? Yes this country has been on a decline for a while, steep one at that. But his actions are the equivalent of ripping out the ventilator and kicking the patient down a flight of stairs.

I don’t think he has ‘emboldened the racists’.

This is how we know you are one. Multiple of his cabinet picks have clear ties to white supremacy orgs, and he loves to rain down punishment on anyone who fights for people to be treated equally.

I didn’t write this to convince you of anything. That hope is dead for people like you. There is no hope of instilling empathy in any real trump supporter at this point, I truly believe that. I wrote this for anyone who reads this conversation.

  • I relate so hard. Honestly LED’s are nothing compared to the fucking laser headlights that now exist in Volvo models and others. Yes, you read that right, actual lasers.

I’ve been on the receiving end and actually had to pull over for a minute just to survive (ie not crash due to complete blindness from being flasbanged). Laser headlights should be illegal yesterday. The permanent damage from exposure again and again over time is going to cause long-term and slowly emerging vision problems theoughout the population. Seriously.
