  • On the one hand, I totally get being pissed off that a burgeoning global hegemon displaced your people to make room for a group of traumatized refugees in the hopes these refugees could be leveraged to establish a fortress of power projection for said hegemon to dominate a historically defiant region… and I get being pissed off that it worked a little too well to the point that now the fortress of refugees actually has nukes and holds a leash on the global hegemon that gave it all that power in the first place…

On the other hand, that was like 80 years ago and they gave you a chunk of land back and everyone just wants you to stop fighting and frankly you keep bombing them so of course they snipe your children in the streets, and slaughtering 2000 people on a holiday despite no serious escalation from the enemy side in recent memory didn’t help the situation, so the overkill by Israel is understandable.

And yet again on the other hand, if Israel has the capacity to permanently decapitate Hezbollah with pagers, then clearly they don’t need to level Gaza to get to Hamas leadership, so its clearly overkill and a humanitarian crisis and probably a war crime and they need to stop…

But on the OTHER HAND Iran did bomb them, and Hezbollah was planning an invasion, and… (trails off)

  • yes video quality has dropped, video suggestion algorithms have become a weird uroboric/echo chamber even if you have dozens of subscriptions, and the YouTube shorts reel refuses to be trained (no matter what I do, if I dislike every video I don’t want to see and like all the ones I do want to see and log off if it suggests too many bad videos in a row, it still feeds me an endless loop of unwanted brain rot after 5 or 6 scrolls). I hate YouTube.

At the same time, they’ve found a good way around the ad block situation which is to promote ads as thumbnails on your “for you” video main page. I don’t know why they didn’t just do that in the first place, because honestly I don’t mind that. It’s when they constantly interrupt my videos ever freaking minute and a half that I start to get pissed.

Yawn. Your personal experience is not reflective of broader trends. If you work in healthcare, you really should be smart enough to know this. So I will lecture you, because you clearly need it. Besides, you haven’t refuted any of my points, you just resorted to logical fallacies like appeals to authority and anecdotal evidence. Proof that you don’t have anything useful to say anymore. Smh.

    • There are plenty of convenient and easy ways for harming each other outside of guns (France circa 2016). The same goes for suicide. So banning guns doesn’t actually make it “harder” for people to harm one another, esp. when you can just drive a truck through a crowd.
    • Gun control doesn’t work anyways (Winnenden School Shooting, Jokela School Shooting Finland, 2007, Alphen aan den Rijn Shopping Mall Shooting in Netherlands, 2011, etc. etc.).
    • Guns save more productive civilian lives than the the criminal lives they take, and people like you purposefully ignore this fact. In trying to save a few hundred or maybe thousand lives from gun violence (most of which are violent criminals themselves), you people are willing to deprive millions of innocent hard working people the ability to defend themselves. You know nothing.
    • Even if all of this was false, the ability to resist tyranny is more valuable than the lives lost to gun-crime.

How about instead of low-IQ hamfisted moves such as taking away guns, you people look at policies that would address the root causes of crime like broken families, poverty, mental illness, homelessness, and cultural malaise? You don’t. Because you’re lazy. And THAT is why you want to get rid of guns. Because you don’t care enough about the people to invest some effort in actually solving all the related problems that lead people to use guns in the first place.
