I would love to talk about the amazing mechanics and different approaches guns have to firing an exploding charge to move a mass of metal at supersonic speeds
You need to hang out with gunsmiths. Those are the folks having those kinds of conversations.
I think nearly everyone in the firearms community realizes how much time and effort Keanu puts into training.
I think the opposite is more true; meaning that people OUTSIDE the firearms community have little to no idea how much time and effort it takes to be anything like what he looks like in the movies. Nor do they realize how far removed the movies they watch are from reality. Suppressors are not silent, shooting things 50 yards away with a pistol is almost always going to result in a miss, your ears are ringing after just one or two shots making conversations after a gun battle impossible, and so on.
I find your comment to be dangerously credible.

Those laws were changed starting in January of 2022.
So while you did research you are trusting some no-name website with information from 2013 in regard to legal matters, matters that could result in execution if you get it wrong. As a point of fact before the law change in 2022 the so called “Age of Puberty” was 14 so what this guy did wouldn’t have been illegal based on age!
This kind of circumstance is why reasonable places in the world don’t prosecute this stuff when both parties are tourists. It can be damn difficult to know precisely what is and what isn’t in any given area.
People need to stay the hell out of Dubai.
You already know that Mommy phoned it in but after reading several articles I’m going to guess she did it because her family is Muslim. According to another article his family knew about it but didn’t care however she was hiding it from her family because they were “quite strict”.
I won’t discount racist assholes of course but you’d have to be SERIOUSLY over the top to know about this law in Dubai, let alone be willing to make an international phone call to the Dubai police about it. This smacks of religiously motivated behavior.
So either she did and TSA didn’t care, it she didn’t and they blundered.
I haven’t found a story yet that says whether the firearm was in a checked bag or a carry-on and that really matters. If it was a carry-on then the TSA utterly failed. If it was checked baggage though then she likely followed the correct US process but took a gun to a country that didn’t allow it and Australian customs caught it as they were doing the luggage scan.
Despite what you may think it IS possible to legally take firearms to other countries assuming you follow the process and the law at your destination. For example there’s gobs of people from all over the world that fly into Colorado, Wyoming, and Alaska every fall with their hunting rifles. It’s also possible, although difficult, to bring firearms into Australia.
Ultimately the TSA would have no definitive way to know whether or not she was actually allowed to bring the pistol to Australia, all they can reasonably do is make sure that it’s stored safely and out of reach. The rest of it is on the person traveling.
It’s the same as most Linux distros, just different commands / syntax.
…so now I have a permanently poopy-smelling trash bin that receives weekly deposits.
I understand and sympathize with your frustration but did no one ever explain that you’re supposed to wash those things out occasionally? 60 seconds with the hose on a semi-regular basis solves the problem. If that doesn’t work then you can use can liners to prevent it.
It’s not fair that you have to go through extra work or expense to solve a problem that someone else is creating but its better to take action than it is to sit there and stew over it.
Thank you for this. I know some people won’t appreciate it but not every community needs to be a full time political outlet.
but I am not.
As the father of a Gen Z Son whose almost done with a degree in Chemical Engineering I can confidently say that you are wrong. There’s large numbers of intelligent, educated, and caring young men out there and it’s been my privilege to watch quite a few of them grow up.
As a man over 50 I’m going to point out that if everywhere you go smells like shit then you need to check your shoes.
Homes are wildly unaffordable for nearly everybody! In the last decade literally hundreds of homes have been built in my town that sell for over $500,000. I want to know who the hell is buying them and how the hell they are affording them!
I have no idea how my son, who is 24, is going to buy a home of his own and at this point I’m wondering if I should sell my current place for a compound with enough space that I can turn into a multi-generational place so I can leave it to him and his family when my wife and I die.
IMO, the most effective method weapon would be a steam roller
The most effective weapon would be a steam roller equipped with a machine gun that fires lightsabers.
For instance, suppressing fire; you can’t suppress zombies, because they don’t care if they get shot, and it only matters if they get shot in the head.
This makes my teeth itch. I realize that this is NCD but…
Without claiming outright magic damage to muscle and bone still matters. A bipedal creature absolutely requires certain muscles and bones to remain upright. If a zombie gets hit with a rifle round that blows out a 3" chunk of its spine then it can’t stand up. That kind of damage is easily done with a 30 caliber rifle round (7.76) let alone the venerable .50 caliber. Even the relatively small .223 / 5.56 that’s carried by standard infantry will remove muscle and break bones.
Your average grunt is going to figure out real quick where and how they need to shoot in order to slow or stop these things. If head shots aren’t possible and it takes too much ammo for body shots they’ll start aiming for the knees and ankles, because again that zombie can’t run / shamble at you if it has no feet or it’s ankle or knee has been blown into a hundred pieces.
So when Tommy Tactical or Isaac Infantry mag dumps 20 rounds of 5.56 into a zombie it may not be “dead” but it sure as shit has taken critical damage to its musculoskeletal system and will almost certainly not able to stand upright. Ol’ Mike the Mighty on the Ma Deuce will reduce a hundred zombies into a quivering pile in 60 seconds or less all by himself.
That zombie horde will be a lot less dangerous and easy to clean up once it’s crawling on the ground with all the speed of a toddler.
More than a few high profile anti-gun people have owned firearms. Diane Feinstein comes to mind as another example.
ALL of the super wealthy anti-gun people, like Michael Bloomberg, have no issue being protected by people with firearms.
It’s not the guns that they’re against. They’re against them being owned by peasants regular people.
It’s actually a shit article that doesn’t do anything to explain why this is happening, because once you know WHY you realize this is NBD and will be going away when 24H2 is actually released.
This article isn’t great but at the bottom it does explain what’s going on.
I wouldn’t. This isn’t a real problem but you’ll probably make one if you force delete things marked as necessary for Checkpoint Updates. This 8.5gig of “stuff” is only there because 24H2 is still in Beta and it has incorrectly marked some things from the 23H update as required for future updates.
WTF is up with this 24H2 update I keep hearing about?
The first thing you have to know is that it hasn’t been released yet! That’s right, every one of these articles screaming about 24H2 bugs is based on Preview, commonly called Beta, software.
This particular issue being caused because Microsoft is moving to “Checkpoint Updates” so that updates will install faster and be smaller in size.
Right now 24H2 is marking parts of 23H3 as necessary for future updates so they can’t be deleted. This will 100% be fixed before 24H4 goes RTM.
Basically this one is a non-issue. It’s being used as an outrage generator.
As a former CAP cadet I approve this plan. The Air Force should approve it immediately!
