Sitting outside of a club waiting for friends. It’s late and a guy comes up and asks if I’m ok, if I need an ambulance or something. I must have looked rough. Dude saw that I was just on my phone and apologized before taking off, saying he was just making sure I wasn’t passing out or OD’ing

Not much later I’m walking to meet up with other friends for an after party and see the guy setting up on some cardboard.

I stop and ask him what his deal was, he wasn’t strung out like other homeless around. He told me his story. I said I was headed to Denny’s and would buy him dinner if he wanted.

When we got there he said thanks but he didn’t want to bother my gathering and was going to decline. So I hand him a few hundred bucks that was my party cash. He initially declined but I insisted, because he was humble, genuinely concerned about my drink add, and obviously was going to get himself out of his situation with only a little help and some luck.

I’ve interacted with a number of homeless and never really met another person like that since. I’m sure they are out there, teetering on really hard times.

If you get nosebleeds often, go to the dr. They can fix it. Had mine fixed as a teen, went from weekly to never.

Tampons absorb, which isn’t great if you need to help clot your leaky flesh. It’s better than nothing, but gauze or tissue would be better.

Now I want to know the boiling point of water at the pressurized altitude of a plane.

Yesterday I followed a person about 20 miles to the same exact destination.

When I left I followed someone else 30+ miles and they were going 3 blocks where I was going.

The worst is when you hold the door for someone and walk out to your car and they parked next to you.

A friend of mine recently retired. He said that his financial advisor said he was fine to retire at any time, but he was doing easy hybrid remote work and thought to keep working to save up a little more.

While this was happening, he reconnected with an old girlfriend out of state. He’d visit her once a month or so. They made plans for him to move out there once he retired.

He eventually retired and had moved out to be with his girl. After a few months her cancer came back and took her out within a month.

That was maybe 4 months ago. He told me the two biggest regrets he has is not retiring earlier, and not spending more money. It went unspoken that he wanted to have spent more time with his lady.

I’m not one to cry, but taking the train home after that chat had my eyes welled up.

Were any women involved in this? Seems like the industry was full of older white men making all of the decisions back then.
