While I have great sympathy for trans people struggling in a world that doesn’t want to accept them or get them care they need, I also need to push back that they are in way victimized by this prank.
I don’t care who or what you are, if you’re stupid enough to fall for shit like this without spending 30 goddamn seconds googling for accuracy, you’re kinda just another dumb fuck. If you’re trans or looking for any solutions for gender-affirming care (yes, straight cis dudes trying to bulk up are also doing gender-affirming care) then it’s kind of on you to read up a LITTLE about how hormones work and how to manage them.
30 seconds googling for accuracy? Is that how long it takes to verify disinformation? What if you come across a study funded by big onion that says the same thing? How do you know you’re not being mislead on a higher level? You skim an ncbi article for 30 seconds and think you know right from wrong?
Well true, the fallacy of my assertion is that the person has even basic reading ability and basic comprehension, when the sad reality that we need to address with a lot more urgency is that 21% of the US population is functionally illiterate, and we are reinforcing a culture of willful ignorance, so yes there is another layer to the problem but otherwise, your contrarian and helpless attitude about this very basic and acceptable thing tells me a lot.
