      Might come home fat.

The Dachshund, also known as the Wiener or Sausage Dog, is famous for its short legs and long body. It was bred to hunt badgers, which is why they tend to be stubborn and charmingly grouchy. And given their close to the ground build, it shouldn’t be surprising that Dachshunds are excellent hunters of rats, rabbits, and prairie dogs.

Some of the biggest threats to the bush rat include red foxes and feral cats, both introduced species.

Without feral cats, Kangaroo Island would be a Rat Island

Barn owls deployed to Kangaroo Island

The Kangaroo Island Landscape Board (KILB) is attracting the avian predators so they can take over rodent control from feral cats, the population of which has been reduced by 80 per cent since 2020 following a trapping program.

      Yeah I wonder about that.

Like a feral cat is scary and terrifying spawn of satan shit.

Who knows how Valerie has fared but if she’s 5% feral then sadly she might be difficult to keep as a pet.

I guess there are no predators on Kangaroo Island but it would still be stressful.

It probably is stressful, but there is a good chance it’s cathartic instead. Dog gets to act on his pray drive, not only without consequence, but also with many rewards for doing so. I didn’t read the article, but that could be why he’s so elusive. Dog’s having the time of his life

I don’t think dogs really work that way.

Like ok if your at the park for 10 minutes your dog might not want to come to you because it’s having the time of its life, but after hours or days most pets will want the comfort of being near humans.

Why is it being elusive then?

              Because it’s half feral?
